Room 13 Hareclive visit the new Tate Modern

Room 13 Hareclive, the independent artists’ studio run by young people within the grounds of Hareclive Academy, are amongst the first school groups selected to visit the new Tate Modern at a special preview this Thursday.

Some 3,000 school children from across the UK are the first members of the public to see the new building. Welcomed by artist Bob and Roberta Smith, the children are able to explore the new building and displays, and to be inspired by modern and contemporary art from around the world.

Room 13 were nominated for the opportunity by Spike Island, where they also have a studio base. Spike Island is a partner of Tate as part of the Plus Tate network, a network of 35 cultural institutions aiming to inspire people about art.

Also nominated to attend by Arnolfini through the Plus Tate network are Whitehall Primary School, Bristol.
